Pick two currencies
Type to search from and to currencies (all codes supported by ExchangeRate-API), optionally enter an amount, and see the rate and converted total.
How pick-two currency conversion works
Any supported pair
Search and choose a from-currency and a to-currency among the codes offered by ExchangeRate-API, then optionally enter an amount. The page shows a mid-market style rate and the converted total. Use this when you know both currencies and want a precise pair rather than a twenty-currency overview.
How to use the result
- Rate ≈ how many units of the “to” currency per 1 unit of the “from” currency.
- Converted total = amount × rate (when amount is set).
- Swap directions if you think more clearly the other way around.
Worked example
Converting 250 GBP to USD at a rate of 1.27 yields about 317.50 USD before fees. Paying by card abroad may land closer to 1.22–1.25 effective after markup — always check your statement.
Travel and accounting tips
For trip budgeting, convert once with a conservative buffer for fees. For invoices, use the rate date your contract requires (spot, customs, or ECB reference) — this tool is a convenience check, not a statutory FX source.
Common mistakes
- Mixing unit (per 1) rates with “per 100” tourist board tables.
- Assuming crypto tickers behave like ISO fiat codes — use the crypto tools for coins.
- Budgeting exact cents when cash exchange rounds heavily.
FAQs
- Why isn’t my exotic code listed?
- Only codes returned by the upstream API appear. Try alternate ISO codes or a major intermediate currency.
- Where is inflation?
- Long-run buying power uses Inflation, not this spot converter.
